Two puppeteers holding a puppet. The puppet is holding a cup that says Bill and he's in a birthday party because there are balloons and a sign that says Happy Birthday behind them

"…buoyant, mesmerizing, joy-inducing. "

"This isn’t the birthday that Bill had hoped to have. But for the audience, his 44th is a gift.” - The New York Times

Bill’s 44th is a full-length, wordless, comedic puppet show performed with an original, recorded score, about a man on his birthday.

The streamers are hung, the punch has been spiked, and the cake is just begging to be eaten! Now all Bill has to do is wait for his guests to arrive. Desperate to fill his apartment with camaraderie and celebration, his imagination runs wild. Bill’s 44th explores loneliness and self-acceptance through different styles of puppetry, raucous balloons, and a cheeky piece of crudité.

*Shows take place in the Perry Elementary/Middle School Auditorium Theatre.

Perhaps you remember Bill’s 44th when it was part of the 2020 NYSPF@HOME virtual programming - we certainly do! We’re proud to see how far the show has traveled since then - celebrate its homecoming in this special four show run at New York State Puppet Festival.

Where has the show been? Everywhere!
